Spent this weekend (Friday –Sunday) practicing Ashtanga for Lino Miele (Italy). He was in Gothenburg at Ashtanga Yoga Shala Göteborg to teach. This man who is practicing the tired advanced series in Ashtanga at the age of 54 showed humbleness not only towards his practice but also towards all us yogis and yoginis at the workshop. Whit a gentle touch he got all my trust and whit his sense of humor and self distains he got my respect. If you ever get the opportunity, please take the chance and do you’re practice for him.

Beside the strong impression he gave, he also signed the book “Astanga Yoga” as he has written (you see the signature on the foto). The book has been released it 8th Editions (the latest came 2007) and the book is blessed by Guruji Sir K. Pattabhi Jois.

Pilates course

Spent this evening on a Pilates course. A lic. Stott Pilates Instructor (Martina) has held an education during the last month which I have been participated in. It has been a great way to depend my knowledge about the postures and the thoughts behind the principles. Pilates works with five principles; breathing, pelvis, thorax, cingulum extremitatis superioris (scapula and clavivula), nucha (neck/the back of the neck). The thinking behind the principles isn’t so far from yoga in general but still so very different. And it´s not just the principles that differs, also the breathing is very dissimilar as well in the way you breathe as in the rhythm.

Yoga for children

Today´s 3 yoga classes for children were joyful. I meet and worked together whit 3 different classes/schools, the children were in the age between 5 – 7 years (all located in Trollhättan).

Again working whit children makes me reflect. It´s amazing to see how fast they adopt the movement/asanas. Particularly the children seams to encourage each other and there approach to yoga are fantastic. They never make mistakes or fail, they only try again. With there open-minded approach all the joy and the magic come.

As you all learned to day ~Namaste

Yoga in all dimensions

To all yoginis and yogis out there. This is the first step to document my practice along the way. Hopefully I will be able to grasp even more about Yoga and maybe contribute with a tip ore two for you´re practice.

To give you a hint about my background, I was raised by PowerYoga and later on found my way in to Ashtanga. Today I´m still practicing as well as teaching Poweryoga (educated to teach both for children and adults). Most often I prefer for myself to practice Ashtanga, following the tradition of Sri K. Pattabhi Jonis. I have also spent a little time trying to learn Hatha, Sats-Yoga, BikramYoga and Atmananda Yoga. My practice is mainly located in Sweden (Trollhättan, Gothenburg and Stockholm) but I´ve also been to Finland, Italy, Ireland and India.

As you might guess by now my influence are many as well as the great number of teachers/Gurus I´ve met trough the years.
